About The Cloth: Building Stronger Communities in Third Ward

The Cloth is a collective of organizations, families, schools, businesses, churches, public and private agencies, all working together to support and uplift the Third Ward community. Our mission is to connect, empower, and create opportunities for positive change in Third Ward and Greater Houston.

Membership at The Cloth

The Cloth’s membership is made up of a diverse range of partners who are all dedicated to our shared mission. While membership is limited to organizations and families, there are many ways individuals can get involved and contribute to our work:

  1. Serve on Committees or Task Forces: Be a part of the decision-making process and contribute to key community initiatives.

  2. Join or Affiliate with Member Organizations: Find groups that align with your specific interests and concerns within the Third Ward and Greater Houston area.

  3. Request Expansion of Scope: If you feel an important issue is missing from our current focus, request that member organizations broaden their efforts to address your concerns.

  4. Form Your Own Group: If you see a need in the community that’s not being addressed, start a group and join The Cloth. As the African proverb says, "When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion."

Meeting Space Available

We understand the importance of collaboration, and that's why we offer meeting spaces at 3131 Emancipation Street for our members. These spaces are available for community meetings, workshops, fundraising events, and any other activities that further our collective mission. Whether you're planning a community gathering, a fundraiser, or a workshop, our space is open to you.
